I decided to be a lifeguard for Halloween. It's a secret, though.

The mid-semester rush has been on hardcore. I don't have big bunches of exams, but I have one a week from here til the first week of December, that I know of. In the middle of....at least 4 projects right now. The CA thing is going fine, except I don't see people as much as I'd like to. Just the same ones over and over, and the same small talk with everyone else. Gotta be careful cuz now some of them have my screen name. Stop spying on me. Ok, you can spy on me.

I like it when the guys down the hall start playing country, cuz it pisses off some of the other guys, and they're funny when they fight.

Gonna try to go get some stuff done today, got duty tonight. Come visit if you're bored.

These past few days (weeks?) I've had trouble falling asleep. I don't get there til 4, 5am, if at all. I don't think I'm missing sleep, I think I just screwed myself on weekends by staying out/up late and sleeping til 3pm.....so I'm working on that. Trying to get up earlier than I want to and tire myself out during the day. I got in the extra gym time, and all my homework is done, and I'm on top of both jobs, but I still have excess energy and this feeling of anxiety.

Current preoccupation:
In my tax class, part of our grade comes from our posts on tax issues in the presidential election (I know, exciting, right?) and the damn boards are SO FRUSTRATING. 90% of my classmates can't write coherently in English, and one who can comes off as a pretentious know-it-all and posts compulsively almost every day (sometimes several times a day). Recently I put up a fairly opinionated post as a reply to someone else's incoherent babblings on an article they'd read - yeah I know, I just said I hate that, but damn I'd been on my best behavior and something had to break. So I posted what I thought, supported it as best I could without doing very extensive research (this is only like 5% of the grade), and was satisfied with it. Of course I got the long-ass reply, which included a copy-paste of an article Mr. Pretentious thought supported his point. I couldn't help bu notice he didn't really have a point, and just seemed to want to 1) inform us all, yet again, that he reads the New York Times religiously, going so far as to clip articles pertaining to class (and he offered to show them to me! awwwww!!) and 2) that he thought my opinions sucked.

So maybe I sound hypocritical here, but I really don't care. I know I'm not, and that this kid needs to be brought down a couple pegs. This time I'm standing my ground, he can post all the NY Times references he wants, I'll continue to form my own opinions, and THEN find resources to back them up. Not the other way around. But damn, how does he have this much time to devote to a stupid WebCT bulletin board?

I've spent the last couple hours doing accounting homework and researching for my next post. Gotta say I've kept myself pretty damn busy today between classes, the gym, lots of random CA stuff, UCTV, homework, and now this WebCT nonsense. Not oversleeping would've been nice, but I do what I can with what I have.

Arg, why the sense of frustration and anxiety? Cutting down on caffeine.

Odd weekend....as far as birthdays go, mine was pretty dull. Last year I spent it with a group of ten or so tight friends - there was cake, etc, and it was awesome. This year that didn't happen...I did get a lot of messages, IM's, etc, and my floor made and signed a card, left stuff on my door, etc.....and I definitely spent some more quality time in South B. It still feels like there's something missing though. Like in place of a small group of people I'm close to, I have a very large group I'm not so close to.

Things that I used to be able to pass off or tell little white lies about, I'm finding it much harder to. You know how sometimes when you're talking on AIM to a friend, and you want to tell them exactly what you're thinking at the top of your lungs, and you even say it out loud to your computer, but then you type 'lol haha yeah me too'?

We may be on the verge of some new self-discovery breakthrough here.

Berfday!!!

Once again, I'm reminded that my friends are amazing. Today a lot of stupid, stupid shit went down, and if you talked to me then you probably heard it all. But some things do restore your faith in people - I need a long walk/drive, take in the scenery, reflect on how fleeting this one short season of beauty is. Enjoy it for all it's worth. Leave the stupid shit behind, because if you're caught up in it, if you let it bring you down, goddammit you're going to miss the beauty that's staring you in the face. It's there, all it needs is for you to notice it.

One more day of being 19.

a good friend:

"I would have to say, out of all the girls I know, you definitely have the best head on your shoulders. (plus you're mad hot.)"

Good friends are the shit. I'm damn lucky to have all of you.

Crazy week so far. Keeping busy til well into the wee hours...and I think I prefer this to complete idleness. I'm done with immediate obligations for now, and I'm on duty this weekend....hopefully that means plenty of time to work on class stuff.

So as of today, it is officially official - I will not be doing the winter internship program. Which means, I will indeed still be on campus next semester. It feels odd, I had planned for almost a year to be working full-time during the spring semester of my junior year...it was part of my "plan." It's starting to sink in, but it still feels a little off. Like I'm taking the easy way out. I'm not, I'm just sayin.

I don't want to be on duty this Saturday. Sam has a concert, it's supposed to rock, and I want to go. Sam, you're not supposed to have big gigs when I'm on duty! So I'll be expecting a private CDN concert in Eddy g-lounge to make up for this.

One week of being a teenager left - know what that means? I know I do. Yup, that's right - gotta get my driver's license renewed.

Finance 201 AIM conversations:

lelila1015: fyi
lelila1015: business room 202
lelila1015: is cold
Jare Halcyon: i see
lelila1015: yep
Jare Halcyon: i'll remember that when i continue to never go into the business building
lelila1015: Good.

So, today I didn't get everything on my list done. But I did come close. I was doing something right up until 11:30 tonight. It's odd, how 95% of what I have to do in any given week falls on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

From residentassistant.com, submitted by an RA at the University of Northern Colorado:

There was a call to the front desk that there was a man downstairs going through peoples' clothes in the laundry room. When we brought him upstairs, he was wearing a mechanic's jumpsuit. When the police arrived, they unzipped the jumpsuit, and found that he had some pot, and cocaine on him. They also found that he was wearing several articles of women's lingerie. When the police took him back to the station, they noticed that he was walking funny, so they did a body cavity search, and found that he had a potato wrapped in a condom up his butt. It was a cool night.

I LIKE oldies. On a Beach Boys kick right now. Gee Sam, I wonder why....

Eric Hole wants to see his name in my blog, so here it is. Here's Dave Laster's too, just for good measure. Eric wants me to write about UCTV, and I will, but I don't feel like it now.

Ok except for this - I dropped off the check at Nationwide today, so we have insurance again.

Ummmmmmm I'm a little hungover, I'll write more later.
