I'm home from spending the last couple days in Cape Cod, and I actually have some beach sunburn! This is exciting, it hasn't happened in a few years. I wish I could be a beach bum like my mom and stay up there all week. So, I had coffee around 8:30 tonight somewhere in Rhode Island on the way home, so I'm a little too wired to just settle in and go to bed. I want to go fly my new stunt kite. But it's nighttime. And raining. So, tomorrow after work.
Steph and I had a good time. A lot of time was spent pointing out the things we didn't do, and planning a trip for next summer (we're doing it). This was the first time I've driven to/on the Cape, and the first time I'd been there in about three years. So, we had some getting-lost adventures, and Steph took lots of pictures, and I love the beach. One anecdote, then I'm going to bed:
At the beach, we're all lying around, reading, getting some sun, doing the beach thing, when Steph spots a seagull eating someone's food. So the two of us got up and ran over to it, one from each side, to startle it into flying away. And it did.....after it grabbed a half-full bag of potato chips. So the seagull has this pretty substantial bag of chips in its beak, complete with bag clip, and flies into the water, where it and some other ones start pecking a hole into it. We're not going into the water after it, but another kid sees and starts toward them, but didn't want to approach....we yelled at him to go get it, and he actually did (he was maybe 10). We brought the chips, still complete with bag clip, but soggy, back to their owners, one of whom was a three year-old boy sobbing, "MY CHIPS!!!! MY CHIIIIIIIIIPS!!!!!"
We have pictures.
