Back. In the mood to blog. Haven't been in awhile.
Ok, so here's what happened. I was supposed to work 3-close tonight, which I was happy about - haven't closed in forever, working with people I like, and it's a Jew night, which means mad late hours. All good things, especially since the way my schedule's worked out, I almost always open, and thus don't end up with too many hours. I was looking forward to hanging out with the vault people tonight til the wee hours of the morning - kinda counting on it actually.
Today was rainy. Not downpours, not stormy, just wet and drizzly all day. I didn't think anything of it, the Lake doesn't (almost never) closes for weather, plus there's a fair amount of security in Cash Control - stuff there has to get done whether there's people in the park or not. I left home early, had to make a couple stops on the way - left about 45 minutes before I had to be there. Got to the parking lot, and lots of people (employees) are leaving - I'm thinking makes sense, they're sending people home, then I see one of the auditors leaving too. She told me that the park was closing at 3 (!). So I'm wondering, what does this mean for me? There's still Jew night tonight, there has to be at least 2 people in the vault at all times, there's 3 scheduled, I'm good, right?
I punch in and go over to the office, there's a bunch of my co-workers there - the openers who leave at 3, plus some extra. No one even lets me in at first, so I'm standing there like an idiot saying, "what's going on?" They go "ummmmm" - no one even really says anything, just kinda laughs. One of my bosses says he called me - I'm thinking oh crap, I left early, I didn't get the message - no, he called a little before 2. I remember that, I was in the bathroom - I checked the machine, and there weren't any messages. Apparently this is what happened - management decided only 2 people were going to stay late tonight, but when my boss called me to tell me not to come in, he didn't leave a message. After not reaching the other closer, he called me again, A HALF HOUR LATER, to tell me not to come in. So I wasted.....almost an hour and a half, to get a grand total of 7 minutes, the absolute minimum amount of time that anyone can be punched in for.
I admit, right now I'm probably unreasonably pissed. I don't have to like it, but I'm new, I get sent home first outta the three of us. Two other things, though - why only two people, when two have to be in the vault at all times? What happens if someone has to leave? Needs change? (unlikely since no cash ops were staying open tonight) Has an emergency? Needs something from the other room? From my point of view, it doesn't make sense, but then this is the point of view of that third person.
Second thing - WHY NO MESSAGE?? That was irresponsible. I'm leaving my cell number there next time so it doesn't happen again. If I were management, and I had to cancel one of my employees, I'd make every damn effort to reach them before they left. Yeah he left a message, but he didn't do it until about a half-hour after the first call.
This bothers me a lot.
In other news, I've lost almost 5 pounds....my aunt's still ahead of me, but I'm down an inch on my waist, and alllllmost at 115.
But I'm still pissed.
