I'm home from spending the last couple days in Cape Cod, and I actually have some beach sunburn!  This is exciting, it hasn't happened in a few years.   I wish I could be a beach bum like my mom and stay up there all week.  So, I had coffee around 8:30 tonight somewhere in Rhode Island on the way home, so I'm a little too wired to just settle in and go to bed.  I want to go fly my new stunt kite.  But it's nighttime.  And raining.  So, tomorrow after work.

Steph and I had a good time.  A lot of time was spent pointing out the things we didn't do, and planning a trip for next summer (we're doing it).  This was the first time I've driven to/on the Cape, and the first time I'd been there in about three years.  So, we had some getting-lost adventures, and Steph took lots of pictures, and I love the beach.  One anecdote, then I'm going to bed:

At the beach, we're all lying around, reading, getting some sun, doing the beach thing, when Steph spots a seagull eating someone's food.  So the two of us got up and ran over to it, one from each side, to startle it into flying away.  And it did.....after it grabbed a half-full bag of potato chips.  So the seagull has this pretty substantial bag of chips in its beak, complete with bag clip, and flies into the water, where it and some other ones start pecking a hole into it.  We're not going into the water after it, but another kid sees and starts toward them, but didn't want to approach....we yelled at him to go get it, and he actually did (he was maybe 10).  We brought the chips, still complete with bag clip, but soggy, back to their owners, one of whom was a three year-old boy sobbing, "MY CHIPS!!!!  MY CHIIIIIIIIIPS!!!!!"

We have pictures.

Less than a month of summer left.  Questions:

Will I get Finance 201 in my schedule?

Should I stay at the Lake on weekends through October?

Will I ever be able to do reads again, knowing the extent of the vermin infestation in foods stands?

Lose more weight, or stay where I am now?

To-may-to, or to-mah-to?

Wanna do something tomorrow night?

I had this burst of creativity this morning in the shower - all kinds of ideas for UCTV promos - I was getting excited, couldn't wait to get home to e-mail them to the board (I'm housesitting in Watertown, which was where this took place).  But, now I'm here, and I'm not as excited.  So maybe I'll do it later.

Job getting weirder - yeah socially, it's better than last year.  But I'm still getting talked about behind my back.  Not in a bad way, just in a gossipy, personal life laid bare way.  I'm starting to think that maybe I should treat this more like a job and less like a social event.  They say no good ever comes of getting involved with co-workers.

Just some thoughts....it's good to live like summer though.  Take it as it comes, do whatever feels good, still have obligations, but they're weirder and not as stressful as during the school year.  I'm singing on Sunday at a church re-opening mass - feels good to get back into it, sort of.   Just gotta check on the rehearsal time again.

Gonna post my UCTV promo ideas soon.  Want commentary.

Back. In the mood to blog. Haven't been in awhile.

Ok, so here's what happened. I was supposed to work 3-close tonight, which I was happy about - haven't closed in forever, working with people I like, and it's a Jew night, which means mad late hours. All good things, especially since the way my schedule's worked out, I almost always open, and thus don't end up with too many hours. I was looking forward to hanging out with the vault people tonight til the wee hours of the morning - kinda counting on it actually.

Today was rainy. Not downpours, not stormy, just wet and drizzly all day. I didn't think anything of it, the Lake doesn't (almost never) closes for weather, plus there's a fair amount of security in Cash Control - stuff there has to get done whether there's people in the park or not. I left home early, had to make a couple stops on the way - left about 45 minutes before I had to be there. Got to the parking lot, and lots of people (employees) are leaving - I'm thinking makes sense, they're sending people home, then I see one of the auditors leaving too. She told me that the park was closing at 3 (!). So I'm wondering, what does this mean for me? There's still Jew night tonight, there has to be at least 2 people in the vault at all times, there's 3 scheduled, I'm good, right?

I punch in and go over to the office, there's a bunch of my co-workers there - the openers who leave at 3, plus some extra. No one even lets me in at first, so I'm standing there like an idiot saying, "what's going on?" They go "ummmmm" - no one even really says anything, just kinda laughs. One of my bosses says he called me - I'm thinking oh crap, I left early, I didn't get the message - no, he called a little before 2. I remember that, I was in the bathroom - I checked the machine, and there weren't any messages. Apparently this is what happened - management decided only 2 people were going to stay late tonight, but when my boss called me to tell me not to come in, he didn't leave a message. After not reaching the other closer, he called me again, A HALF HOUR LATER, to tell me not to come in. So I wasted.....almost an hour and a half, to get a grand total of 7 minutes, the absolute minimum amount of time that anyone can be punched in for.

I admit, right now I'm probably unreasonably pissed. I don't have to like it, but I'm new, I get sent home first outta the three of us. Two other things, though - why only two people, when two have to be in the vault at all times? What happens if someone has to leave? Needs change? (unlikely since no cash ops were staying open tonight) Has an emergency? Needs something from the other room? From my point of view, it doesn't make sense, but then this is the point of view of that third person.
Second thing - WHY NO MESSAGE?? That was irresponsible. I'm leaving my cell number there next time so it doesn't happen again. If I were management, and I had to cancel one of my employees, I'd make every damn effort to reach them before they left. Yeah he left a message, but he didn't do it until about a half-hour after the first call.

This bothers me a lot.

In other news, I've lost almost 5 pounds....my aunt's still ahead of me, but I'm down an inch on my waist, and alllllmost at 115.

But I'm still pissed.

This time last year I was....working at Lake Winfield. Had a great tan. I miss the tan.

Last week of classes....finals on Thursday. In keeping with my personal finals tradition, I'm being sure to remain sleep-deprived, spending time staring at my bedroom ceiling, eating lots of high "energy" foods, and avoiding strenuous things like studying and homework. Man, will I be glad when this is over.

Sam informs me that I need to update my pictures....I think he just wants to see himself in one of my albums. I agree though, I do need to make some changes....next time I'm trying not to study, I'll start changing stuff around.

Goodnight!
