Yay!
As Shawn and I walked down to the dining hall, we ran into Mike, who was on his way to bring me the gis. He didn't get here til late last night, which he knew was too late anyway, so he brought them over this morning after he got up. Go Mike!
Got latest speech back in public speaking. Got an 80. Darn.

Frustrated.
I brought home mine and Julie's gis (singular: gi) to wash this weekend, and left the jackets at home. Go me. So I beg my family to bring them up here, and Mike apparently said he would drop them off. Last night. I know he probably couldn't make it after work, but I figure I usually see him on Wednesday mornings anyway, so he'd give them to me now, right? Wrong. No sign of him. No gi(s). Dammit, dammit, dammit. So what, did he have them in his car, and then DRIVE HOME AFTER CLASS????? I wish I knew what was going on. Anyone have a car and feel like making a little trip to Plymouth and back? It's not that far....

Almost forgot - I wanted to post some of the conversation Shawn and I had a little while ago. It's nothing important, just made me smile.
lelila1015: *tackles Shawn*
lelila1015: i still have energy....weird
The Great Shono: interesting
The Great Shono: well don't wear yourself out
The Great Shono: get some sleep
lelila1015: if this lasts til tomorrow morning, i'm going to tackle you in the middle of the dining hall
lelila1015: football style
The Great Shono: hahah nice
lelila1015: you'll never see it coming
lelila1015: well, you might
The Great Shono: oh i will but i'll let it happen
The Great Shono: it'll be fun

Amazing.
I stayed up til about 3 last night (yesterday morning?) studying for a stats exam. I stopped going to class a few weeks ago in favor of learning at my own pace, which would work out fine if my pace isn't incredibly fast and frantic and primarily taking place in the wee hours of the morning. I then slept for a couple hours, got up early, had coffee, studied more, went to class, handed in the other assigment I had frantically completed the night before, then had the exam. Wasn't bad. I think there was rape-age. Then went to next class early, studied for quiz, took quiz, raped quiz. Came back slightly annoyed and a little 'off'....you know when you're really tired but not exactly feeling it, and your hands/feet aren't quite working just the way you want them too? A missed step here, walking into a wall there...yeah, that was me. Like Tuesday when I showed up at Jujutsu without my belt and stepped onto the matt with sandals on, then proceeded to do like 3 more stupid things....anyway, I got back here, got some food (including more coffee), went upstairs, relaxed for a little while, took a shower, started econ homework. Shawn came over. Steph left. :) Maybe a half-hour later, I started homework again. Had it just about done by the time we decided it was dinnertime. Looked for Jess and Julie, couldn't find them, went downstairs anyway, sat down, and they were already there at a different table. Go us. Had dinner, I came back up here before the others, started and finished the one and only written assignment we had for Jujutsu, got ready for Jujutsu, went to Jujutsu. Came back, wasted a little bit of time with food and some Family Guy (I blame Steph), finished econ homework, started and finished Monday's minitab assignment. Tomorrow morning (later this morning I should say) I'm getting up early to get my stuff together, because after my econ discussion at 10 my brother and I are going home. I'm staying the whole weekend to babsit 'cuz the parents will be in Maine, enjoying their only weekend of the YEAR in which they're both off and away from home (and their kids). Saturday is going to be a lazy girls' day of pj's, ice cream, and shopping with my little sister. I will MAKE this fun.
So, I'm pretty sure I need sleep. Probably do. Goodnight!

This weekend was good. Friday morning went home with Mike (had to skip public speaking....damn). Got back pretty early after a couple stops, decided to drive up to the high school to see the only teacher I keep in touch with. He wasn't in. Went to Brooks, got card for my RA (birthday is Tuesday), went to the middle school to pick up little sister and also see former band teacher - wasn't there. Left him a note. Brought sister home after secretary made embarrassing PA announcement to her classroom (muahaha), went toeye appointment with my dad (stigmatism has gotten worse), went home where my mom was stressing out and frosting a cake for me. Ate real food, grandparents plus aunt and uncle came over. Had presents, cake, listened to the wiser generation, felt the strain I had apparently put on my mom by deciding to only be home for a day instead of the whole weekend, stayed up late watching Conan, got some laundry done, went to bed. Got up semi-early, had coffee with parents, came back up here with Dad, ate in dining hall during which I learned all about the Atkins diet, Dad left, I went to Jujutsu, acapella show with Shawn (good job CDN), went to Shawn's, came back here wee hours of the morning. Went to bed at 4. Today, got up, cleaned up a little, went to work, it was really cold out, came back, still really cold out, did laundry, ordered Chinese with Rachel, and watched "Bonnie and Clyde".
Also found out today that one of my high school teachers died. Mr. Kelly - 11th grade U.S. History. Unexpected. He has grandkids....I remember him showing us the pictures when they were born. Rest in peace R. Kelly, you made a difference for a lot of people.

I had a kick-ass birthday. Now, if only there hadn't been any midterms involved...
We had a mini-party between our room and Jess and Julie's room, which involved flowers, cake, a chocolate muffin with 19 candles in it (which led to frantic fanning in the smoke-detector area), and the last inning of the Yankee game. Then after we came back here, it took me a good hour or so to realize that Steph and Jess had stolen my favorite anti-rape posters from various locations in and around Buckley and hung them up over my desk! :-) Now, whenever I look up, I'm reminded that "his strength is not for hurting." One's even in Spanish! They're soooo cheesy! And they look like Calvin Klein ads! We're going to make a parody of one with me beating on Shawn with a baseball bat. I also got a teddy bear, a call from my little sister/parents, a hat, and some thongs. Also pillow fights and some birthday wrestling. Earlier that day I had a macroeconomics exam, this morning I had a political science exam, and this afternoon a history quiz. Skipped stats again....pretty sure I have another stats exam Tuesday. Probably should catch up on that.
Going home tomorrow! For one day!

Tired and bitchy. Midterm tomorrow, midterm Thursday. Unprepared. Unlikely to be totally prepared. Will try to be prepared. The speech went pretty well yesterday. It was an unreasonably and ridiculously beautiful fall day, also Columbus Day, which means my family went hiking at Talcott Mountain and I had CLASS here. Well, so did my brother, and he actually was looking for me after his class but I had skipped to work on my speech....yeah. So anyway, I called home after classes to say hi, and express my resentment at their having the day off. Mom called back a little later, and we talked for awhile - I told my dad how much I appreciated the books, and Mom told me how my little sister had covered her face and neck in red lipstick on a dare from her best friend. I thought it was hysterical....Mom didn't.
Stuff to do, unfortunately....tomorrow's my birthday.

I know it's been awhile since I've written anything of substance in here....actually, have I ever written anything of substance in here? I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder, or something.
The other day I asked my father to send me, via my brother, any books he might have that would help me with my speech (this coming Monday). Since my topic has to do with World War II, I knew he had books and would probably be pretty willing to lend me a hand. Well, he wasn't very enthusiastic when I talked to him, but the next day I had 5 books, two of which he had bookmarked, highlighted, and left notes in of things he thought I could use. He even referenced information down to the paragraph. How cool is my dad? He also threw in 3 others - one detailing a style of Jujitsu, one about public speaking, and Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People." The first two are because I'm taking classes in those subjects, and the last because my dad swears by Carnegie. Well, he swears by that book, which by association means he swears by Carnegie....yeah.
I'm doing alright in terms of keeping up. Not wonderful, not ahead (yet), but alright. I've gotten a couple B's, which I've been trying and hoping really hard to avoid. But this is the first time I've been truly dedicated to and excited about what I'm studying (I was going to type "my studies", but that looked/sounded silly), and I can't reasonably expect absolute perfection. This "work ethic" thing is still new to me. I just spent way too long on an executive summary for Macroeconomics because of a lingering problem with procrastination. I'm willingly distracted though - I knew I could take my time with this one. Anyway.
Yes, a lot of new things have been happening with my personal life lately. Chances are if you read this journal, you probably already know way too much about it or have figured it out from previous entries. I had a disappointment or two in the boy department within the last couple months, and as of now I've been seeing Shawn for about 3 weeks. Is it just me, or does this whole entry sound really formal? If so, it's because I've just finished that exec summary, and it's 1:36AM. It all looks ok to me, which is a guarantee that in the morning, it will not.
Now would be the time to be sleeping, which is what I will do presently.

Why oh why does Microsoft Word never, ever work properly on my computer? It needs to be bitch-slapped. Or reinstalled. Definitely bitch-slapped or reinstalled.
Ok, wrote one paragraph. Sleep now, do the rest when I wake up.
The Great Shono: goodnight! and get some rest
The Great Shono: and do your paper
The Great Shono: and spend time with me
The Great Shono: ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!
It's officially October 7th. Eight more days until my birthday! My birthday present to myself is me being not only caught up, but also ahead in all my classes. By one week. I'll do it! I will!

Thoughts not coherent enough this early for coherent blogging...
Certain boys are very, very dumb. Others think they are but really aren't.
There is a lot of underwear on the underwear rack. Lots.
